Customer request

Metal cutting causes geometric variation in the workpiece, and when high accuracy is required, managing it becomes critical: it can lengthen the process and increase the risk of rejects. An innovative clamping solution, combined with a dedicated machining methodology, allows these variations to be kept under control and the process to reach its optimal efficiency.

Our solution

High-efficiency process in three machining stages (plus lugs removal).Withstanding the cutting forces while holding the workpiece securely, without forcing its geometry.Clamping adaptability to handle the stress relief caused by metal cutting deformation, and control of the alignment.
Quick manual locking and unlocking. In addition, the clamping components can be reused for other applications (reconfigurable equipment).

Manufacturing Process Overview

OP 10

Machining:
Roughing up to +1 mm from the finished geometry.
Clamping equipment:
Pallet M12 400×400 mm and Rail Vises Adjustable M12 H60.

OP 20

Machining:
Roughing on the top side, leaving enough extra material (according to the expected deformation). Stress relieving. Finishing.
Clamping equipment:

Pallet M12 400×400 mm and Adjustable Clamps M12 H120 + Bodies Reduction M12-M6 H30.

OP 30

Machining:
Finishing the opposite side.
Clamping equipment:
Pallet M12 400×400 mm and Fixed Bodies M12 H120 + Bodies Reduction M12-M6 H30.

LUGS REMOVAL

Machining:
Milling of the excess material connecting the part to the supports (lugs), as the final operation of OP30, while the part is held in place by the Rail Pinchers.
Clamping equipment:
Pallet M12 400×400 mm and Fixed Bodies M12 H120 + Bodies Reduction M12-M6 H30 with additional Rail Pinchers.
